Do you pick up and drop off the dog(s)?
- Yes, the price includes pick up and drop off your dog at a time which we try to keep at a consistent time with some variation due to traffic flow.
- We use a crate system to promote calmness in the vehicle and to ensure that dogs can only exit the vehicle one at a time.
- Car training can be organise prior to group walks to help your dog gain confidence with the set-up.
Do I need to provide poo bags, treats or anything else?
- We just need your dog, with a suitable harness and an ID tag either on the harness or on a seperate collar.
- We provide poo bags, treats (we will ask if your dog has any food sensitivities), leads, toys and anything else they may need whilst in our care.
How do you ensure my dog's safety?
We do our best to minimise risk to the dog’s in our care by;
- Matching suitable dogs each day
- Having all dogs on lead when walking to and from the van
- Keeping new dogs on a long-line until we have built a relationship and become familiar with their behaviour, likes and dislikes.
- Practicing recall and disruption of inappropriate behaviour
- Using custom-made crates in the vehicles
- Keeping groups small
Can my nervous/reactive/over-excited dog join your walks?
- We can accomodate reactive, nervous and over-excited dogs.
- We actively work with you to manage and improve your dog’s behaviour such as practing good doggy social manners, desensitisation to worrying things, training a dog not to jump up, practicing taking turns, loose-lead walking, waiting before exiting a vehicle and more!
- Initially Alicia will meet you and your dog to observe his/her behaviour and consider if they can be accommodated adequately in a group walk, or if solo walks or even daycare maybe a better option.
- Sometimes we can not accomodate an enquiry but we will do our best to help you find a suitable solution.
What is your cancellation policy?
- For regular bookings – after the 6-week settling in period (free cancellation during these 6-weeks);
- When 14 days notice or more is given, then there is a 50% charge for a missed booking.
- However, if less than 14 days notice is given, then 100% payment is required.
- For ad hoc bookings – there is a 100% cancellation fee regardless of notice time.

How do I pay you?
- Payment can be made via bank transfer to the details on your invoice which you will receive via email.
- Invoices are sent for the upcoming month so that you can check everything is correct and then make payment.

One of Murphy's favourite day of the week is the day he goes to Alicia's. We always know he is in safe hands and will have the space to run around to his heart's content. We have a tricky little rescue dog who we never thought would be able to go to a doggy daycare… until we met Alicia! Now our dog goes every week to daycare, has started to play with the other dogs and loves to get cuddles from the staff there. Our labrador Elsie loves Alicia and all of her team. They know her so well and always notice little changes in behaviour (if she's had a busy weekend they can tell that she's tired etc). House of Paws has allowed us to go into the office for a full day with complete peace of mind. Elsie leaps into the van and you can tell she loves going. My puppy has been going to Alicia's for a couple of months and he absolutely loves it. Personally, I love the little summary I receive at the end of the day with pictures and videos, and I feel safe leaving my dog in the Alicia's capable hands.
I wish our Cocker Spaniel could speak as I would ask her to leave this review! All I can say is that when we turn onto Dalkeith Road she immediately realises where we are going and starts to jump and squeak with excitement. When we arrive, I open the car door and she bombs it into daycare..... not even a backward glance towards us!

Jolly goes to Alicia's House of Paws about once a week depending when my partner goes to the office. I love that she's able to play outdoors all day (although there is a summer House for cold days) meeting up with her doggy pals. Staff are always helpful and respond quickly on WhatsApp. We get photos, videos and a review of the day it's great to see what she's up to when I'm not around! Thanks Alicia and team!

Dora’s been going to Alicia’s House of Paws for well over a year now and I know she enjoys herself and is very well looked after. Whenever I have to go into the office I have complete peace of mind leaving her at home knowing she’ll be picked up and dropped off and have a great day in between. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic doggy daycare. Cleo is a rescue dog that did not have a lot of confidence when first starting, but the staff have been brilliant with her and now she loves being there 🙂

My dog has been going to daycare here regularly for 2 years now. He loves it so much and always comes home a tired boy. Alicia and her team are great at dealing with him.
My super anxious, tiny little rescue dog has been going to the play center 1-2 days a week for about a year and he LOVES it. Loves the dogs but as he’s now an older gent, mostly enjoys cuddles from the lovely people who work there and watch the dogs. From pick up and drop off to a report card and pictures/videos, he is in such good hands with Alicia and her staff. I’ve also free-sleep boarded him with Alicia’s team (short weekends all the way up to 9 nights), and he is so taken care of and happy when he gets to have sleepovers there. Would definitely recommend!
Alicia, Andreia, and the rest of the team are so good. They not only take such good care of our manic energy bundle, Smokey, but are always so communicative and professional. The stories and pictures they send about the dogs is extremely sweet and always a great part of the day. Best part of the day though is when Smokey comes home tired from all the rambunctious play. Cannot possibly recommend Alicia strongly enough.
Well today he wasn't in control of the 6 dogs he had dog pooping on road and dogs running a mock pooing on beach not once did he pick any up not 1 poo bag until he was reported to police and he had th cheek to deny lucky kids and adults waiting for beach class to begin and plenty photos taken arrogant man and kids playing on beach

Kleo my malamuteXhusky went to day care Monday to Friday this week and had a blast! Daily updates about how she got on and got to socialise with all her doggy friends. Really pleased with the communication and how good Kleo was with everyone. Would definitely recommend Alicia’s house of paws.

Alicia and her team are lovely, dedicated professionals. Zenon, our dog, adores them. I cannot recommend their services enough; they know their way around dogs and can provide them with hours of stimulating fun. Certainly one of the best dog walkers/carers I have ever come across. 🙂
*Day care* Alicia and her team are the best. Our energetic cockapoo puppy has been attending the day care since its opening day, and we couldn't be happier. Alicia truly cares for each and every dog, and takes the time to get to know them and understand them. What really makes her day care different (and better) than all others is that she (and her team) carefully and lovingly teach doggy manners to make sure every dog is comfortable and safe. The picture updates are a great bonus, too. Our boy comes home tired and happy every time!
Couldn't be more delighted to have discovered Alicia and her team. Freddie always comes home absolutely knackered - don't they say a tired dog is a happy dog? When he was sacked by his previous dog walker and always returned home with as much energy as he left with, we were concerned; Alicia has reassured us it was a them problem and not him! He is a high energy, big puppy and started going on a couple of walks a week with Andreia, and now attends day-care. They always make sure he maintains good behaviour, takes some quiet time, and finds his most appropriate playmate. Love the daily whatsapp updates and feedback.
Alicia has looked after my Cavapoo Flo for over 2 years. She goes on walks and spends time at her daycare. Flo absolutely loves Alicia and the team. Flo can be timid around new people but Alicia took the time to get to know her and now she can’t get enough!
I send my dog Edith to the daycare and also a long walk once a week. She seems to greatly enjoy her time, and thanks to the regular photographs and little updates on her behaviour via WhatsApp I always feel informed about her care and kept in the loop about how things are going. I've recommended Alicia's House of Paws to several other dog owners I've met in the area and wouldn't hesitate to continue doing so.
We’ve been using Alicia’s House of Paws as our dog walker for about 18months now and we couldn’t be happier with the service. Oscar our dog adores all of the walkers and always comes back nice and tired after a good play with his pals. We get lots of lovely videos and pictures whilst he’s out, and the walkers help with any training we’re doing with him.
These guys really care about integrating your dog into their walking group and they do in-walk training that helps the more nervous dog adjust. Andreia has done great work with Rusty and his general dog interaction has been much improved since the group walks began. Plus constant feedback and photos from the walkers. Thanks Alicia and crew.
Andreia looks after my two boisterous border terriers, Cuthbert and Bede. The boys love her - last time she fetched them they didn't even look back. She always manages to get the best behaviour out of them and they return home more obedient and biddable than when they left. I never worry when they re with Andreia or Alicia - Alicia's House of Paws is a godsend !
We used Alicia’s House of Paws to look after our 5 month old kittens when we went away for the night and they were absolutely brilliant! Andreia was great with them and sent us loads of videos and pictures which made us feel so relaxed and confirmed that we’d chosen the right people! We came back to two happy, relaxed kittens. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Alicia’s House of Paws and Andreia and we will definitely be using them again!

Melissa is an outstanding cat carer , the very best. She is thoughtful and conscientious , kind, loving and reassuring. Your furry companions are in the best of hands . I recommend her without a moments hesitation. Can’t find star emoji but it’s a five !!
Mel was able to look after my two cats for a week at very short notice. One of my cats has diabetes and requires two injections each day. Mel was able to manage this with absolutely no issues and I had confidence in her experience looking after diabetic cats. My cats loved her and she sent me photos and videos every day. It meant I could be away and not worry about my cats. I wouldn't hesitate to book Mel again and would thoroughly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, friendly cat sitter.
Melissa looked after my wee boy Caspian during end stage heart failure. He needed multiple tablets and 2 injections daily and was not the easiest cat. Melissa managed with ease and Caspian really loved her visiting. Now she continues to look after my other kitties who equally enjoy her company and she is the first sitter I have found who I completely trust. I would highly recommend.
I highly recommend Alicia’s House! My cat Kobe was for over a month in Mel’s home and he had a great fun! Mel updated me every day with pics and video which I really appreciated as I was in peace thinking him with other cats..going in the garden...playing with her and having cuddle by Mel! Kobe is missing her place 🥰
This was the second time I have used Alicia' House of Paws to look after my cats and they have been brilliant both times. Andreia looked after my cats for a week and spent time playing with them and making sure they were okay. Really pleased with the service and would use again in the future.
I recommend Alicia's House of paws because the lovely mellisa done a great job with lily my diabetic cat giving her her insulin while I had a break away for afew day,normally lily is not good with strangers but she took to mellisa straight away so she is a cat whisperer in my eye 😀 thank you so much 😊
Melissa looked after my 3 kitties and they completely loved her! one of my cats has heart failure and needs both tablets and injections daily. Melissa had no issues with administering them at all. I got plenty of photo and video updates and got home to happy well cared for cats. Would highly recommend 👍
Mel from Alicia’s House of Paws came to our rescue when we needed a dog sit while up in Midlothian for a family wedding. Mel turned what could have been a stressful experience, leaving our beloved BT Louie with a stranger, into a very stress free and happy one for both pooch and human alike. Pick up and drop of were arranged at convenient times for us and messages and photos sent of Louie enjoying his day out. Communication from Alicia’s House of Paws was excellent throughout from the formal online registration process and invoicing side, through to our personal interaction with Mel. Mel was reassuring, calm, caring and friendly throughout and I would happily recommend this service for your dog sitting needs!
Mel took brilliant care of my cats while I was on holiday, one who'd just been diagnosed with a medical condition and needed twice daily medication. I received daily updates and photos and felt so much happier seeing how at ease they were, being looked after by Mel. 100% using your services again!
Mel is a star! She walked our very energetic Romanian rescue for 2 weeks and was so great with her. She even practiced a few training techniques with our dog Zelda as I noticed she was giving me a lot more eye contact during walks. Highly recommended service. We booked Alica's House of Paws to sit our two indoor rabbits while we were on holiday. We were able to book a meet and greet with our sitter in advance of our holiday, and use the online booking system to schedule visits to our pets needs. While we were on holiday, we received daily updates from Melissa and pictures of our two buns having lots of fun and being well cared for. Melissa also kept our buns' indoor living areas very clean and also took our bins out on the days we asked for. We knew while we were away that our bunnies were in safe hands and most importantly were healthy and happy. We were both absolutely delighted with the service we received and will definitely use Alicia's House of Paws again.
Alicia has been nothing but amazing with us and our pup! We wanted to get a trainer & dog walker for our girl as we wanted her to learn to be around other dogs, be away from us and enjoy exploring. Our pup has always been shy and nervous but she has since come out her shell, all thanks to Alicia!! The puppy classes were so brilliant and tailored to our pup, we have learnt so many important skills for calming our pup down, introducing her to new environments, promoting and encouraging good behaviour as well as the commands you’d expect to learn in a puppy class. The dog walking service she offers is superb. Alicia understands how best to look after a shy and nervous pup and how best to encourage them to enjoy their walks. Our girl has grown in confidence and it’s testament to the time Alicia has spent with her. Alicia will continue to play a vital part in our puppies development as well as our development as dog owners. She has been a blessing for us and our little flo.
Alicia is an absolute superstar. We met her at puppy classes and she now walks our 8 month old mini Goldendoodle weekly. As well as taking him on small group walks where they are always somewhere totally secure and can play freely, she's conscious of the individual needs of each dog in her care and is attentive to them. It's obvious that Alicia really cares about each of the pups in her charge and really goes the extra mile to love and look after them. Alicia walked our 10 month old dalmatian, Dexter, who is very excitable and has his own unique quirks which other dogs walkers were not keen to take on. She worked with him, undertaking training on each walk. Dexter loved his walks with Alicia and always came back well exercised and sleepy!
